How to Price Used Furniture for Sale in Dubai
By the LoopHome team6 min read
Price is one factor in whether used furniture attracts a buyer or remains unsold. Set it too high and serious buyers scroll past; set it too low and you give money away. The good news is that pricing used furniture isn't guesswork. Comparing similar items, adjusting for condition and setting a sensible minimum gives you a starting point rather than a guaranteed valuation. This guide explains how to price used furniture for sale in Dubai, step by step.
In short: find three to five similar items for sale, adjust for your piece's age and condition, set your asking price a little above the lowest you'd accept, and review it if there's no serious interest after a week or two.
Why the original price isn't the answer
What you paid is history. Buyers compare your sofa with what else is for sale today, including new budget furniture. A used piece also comes with costs the buyer takes on: transport, carrying it up to their flat, assembly, and usually no warranty. That's why even lightly used furniture resells for a fraction of its new price, and why the receipt is a starting point, not your asking price.
What affects resale value
- Brand and build quality. Solid wood, metal frames and well-known brands hold value better than budget flat-pack.
- Age and condition. Scratches, stains, sagging cushions and wobbly joints all lower the price. A two-year-old piece in good condition is worth more than a newer one that's been heavily used.
- Size and ease of moving. Big, heavy pieces need a van and helpers, and must fit the buyer's lift and doors. That narrows the market and lowers the price.
- Demand. Practical everyday items, such as wardrobes, beds with storage, dining sets and desks, sell faster than unusual pieces.
- Completeness. All the parts, screws, shelves and cushions, plus manuals, receipts and model numbers, make buyers more confident.
- Style. Neutral colours and simple designs suit more homes, so more people will consider them.
- Smoke-free and pet-free homes. For sofas, chairs and anything with fabric, this matters to many buyers.
A simple four-step method
Step 1: Find similar items for sale
Search online classifieds for the same item, or the closest match by brand, size and material. Note the asking prices of three to five items in similar condition. Remember that asking prices aren't sale prices: an older listing may reflect a high price, low demand or a seller who has not updated it. Use it as context, not proof of a completed sale.
Step 2: Adjust for your item's condition
Compare your piece honestly with the ones you found. If yours is in better condition, newer or more complete, aim for the upper part of the range. If it has visible wear, missing parts or stains, aim lower. A clear grading scale helps; ours is explained on our condition grades page.
Step 3: Set an asking price and a minimum
Decide the lowest price you'd accept, then set your asking price a little above it to leave room for negotiation. Round numbers look more confident and are easier to negotiate from. If you're selling several pieces from one room, you can also offer a set price for the lot.
Step 4: Review after a week or two
The response tells you what to change:
- Plenty of views but no messages: review the price and whether the photos, dimensions and condition notes answer buyers' questions.
- Messages but only very low offers: compare those offers with your minimum and similar items. Low offers can reflect bargaining and do not establish the item's value.
- Hardly any views: improve the title and photos, and check the item is in the right category.
When you lower the price, make it a noticeable step rather than a tiny one. Small cuts rarely bring new buyers.
Pricing used appliances
Buyers of used fridges, washing machines and other appliances care about different things:
- Working order. Say clearly that it works, and mention any fault, however small.
- Model number and age. Buyers often look up the model, so include it.
- Capacity and size. Give the capacity and dimensions, as many Dubai kitchens have fixed spaces.
- Service history. A recent service or a new part is worth mentioning.

Quick sale or highest price?
Your deadline changes the right price. If you're moving soon, price at the lower end of the range from the start, because a fair price this week beats a higher price that never comes. With no deadline, start nearer the top and lower it gradually. Grouping smaller items into a room set also helps them sell faster.
Timing your sale in Dubai
Work backwards from your own move-out date. Leave time to photograph the item, receive enquiries, agree the sale and arrange collection. Check your building's access and service-lift requirements before committing to a collection slot. A listing cannot guarantee that an item will sell by your deadline. Our furniture preparation guide explains what to organise before you list.
Pricing when you list with LoopHome
When you list your furniture on LoopHome, the price buyers see is the one you set. After approval, LoopHome handles the buyer and delivery, and you get your price minus the commission shown on the form when the item sells. Use the method above to choose a price that's fair and realistic, while remembering that a listing does not guarantee a sale.
FAQ
How much should I sell my used furniture for in Dubai?
Look at three to five similar items currently for sale, adjust for your piece's age, condition and completeness, and set your asking price a little above the lowest you'd accept. There's no fixed rule, as brand, size and demand all affect the price.
Does the brand affect used furniture prices?
Yes. Solid wood, metal frames and well-known brands usually hold value better than budget flat-pack furniture. Mention the brand and model in your listing so buyers can compare.
How do I know if my price is too high?
Compare your asking price with similar items and review the listing's photos, dimensions and condition notes. Views without messages can have several causes, so do not treat them as a valuation. Adjust the price if the comparison and your deadline support doing so.
Should my price include delivery?
Say clearly whether the buyer must collect and whether the item is dismantled. Buyers in Dubai factor in the cost of a van and helpers, so an item they must collect themselves usually needs a lower price.
